Product description: A strap or strap system used to tie down and secure river gear & equipment
Alternative product names: cargo strap, ATV & motorcycle strap, boat tie down, kayak strap, trailer tie down
Alternative styles: ratchet strap, spring buckle strap, flat hook strap, wire hook strap, loop strap

Common materials: Heavyweight polypropylene is by far the most common webbing used for river straps of any kind. Polypro has excellent UV protection, especially black, and does not absorb water quickly giving it resistance to rot & mildew. This webbing will not stretch, allowing it to hold nice and tight consistently. When using these straps to tie down & secure river equipment, the cam buckle is the most popular piece of hardware. It is simple to use, assembled quickly, and has teeth that grip the webbing tight. For more information on these products, send an email to support@strapworks.com.
Common uses: Other than a tie down for river gear, cam straps have a wide variety of uses. They secure just about anything onto a trailer, in the bed of a truck, on the roof of your car, etc. Cam buckle straps are also great for around the house uses, such as; hose hangers, holding up sunflower stalks, and bundling & carrying wood/kindling. Some other uses for the cam strap are belts, trunk ties, hold items down in carts, and whatever you come up with, I'm sure it will work! If you need help picking a strap for your application, send an email to support@strapworks.com or visit our website, Strapworks.com to look at our different products.
How to use: There are different ways to use the cam strap, so there are multiple ways to apply them! The most common application is simple and quick. Step 1) Loop strap around the river gear or equipment. Step 2) Press your thumb down on the "release" and feed the webbing through the cam buckle. Step 3) Pull the webbing to your desired tightness and release your thumb. If you have any more questions on how to use the cam strap for other applications, send an email to support@strapworks.com.
Common restrictions: Metal hardware breaking strengths are typically available, however they do vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, so we recommend that you contact them directly. For our cam strengths, send an email to support@strapworks.com. Heavyweight polypropylene has a breaking strength that ranges from 675lbs. to 1800lbs.
Similar products: For alternate hardware, there is the ratchet buckle and spring buckle. The ratchet buckle is used for the "loads" that are heavier in weight, and if you are wanting an even tighter strap securing your items. The spring buckle is used for light loads, because they have the tendency to slip if the load is too heavy. These straps are great for around the house uses, and very economical. Other webbing choices for river straps are lightweight polypropylene, and flat nylon. Lightweight does just what it says, light duty. It has all the same qualities as heavyweight, with the exception of abrasion resistance is lower. Flat nylon is not recommended for use in or around water because it absorbs water quickly, causing rot & mildew, and will stretch 2% over time when wet.
